In both Buddhist and Hindu contexts, rudraksha malas are believed to increase positive mental qualities such as concentration, clarity, memory, and inner peace; while decreasing negative mental qualities such as anxiety, anger, greed, and stress. Rudraksha is also traditionally considered to be a source of protection—bestowing wealth and providing a long and peaceful life.
In Vajrayana practice, rudraksha malas are used for wrathful deities, and are an ideal support for Vajrakilaya practice. This is a five-mukhi (five-face) rosary.
108 beads of 6 mm diameter, with Trikaya guru beads. White bead (conch shell) symbolizes Nirmanakaya, red (carnelian stone) Sambhogakaya, blue (lapis lazuli) Dharmakaya. The mala has a sliding knot to make it tighter or looser.
