  • This Troma Nagmo thangka has been painted by a skilled artist in full accordance with the Chokling Tersar tradition and is meant to serve as visualization support for the Chö practice of Chokling Tersar –Tersar Lüjin (The Concise Daily Liturgy for Giving the Body).

Within Chokling Tersar this sādhanā belongs to the completion stage section of the cycle of Dechen Gyalpo, one of the twelve manifestations of Guru Rinpoche from theTukdrub Barché Künsel cycle.

  • Composed by Guru Rinpoche himself, theTersar Lüjin root text was concealed as a terma and later revealed by the great tertön Chokgyur Lingpa, and arranged as a sādhanā by Karmey Khenpo Rinchen Dargye.

The main figure of the thangka is Troma Nagmo. She is the manifestation of Dorje Phagmo (Vajravarahi), depicted above her head. Surrounding Dorje Phagmo is Kuntuzangpo (Samantabhadra) in union, Guru Rinpoche, and Dechen Gyalpo with consort. Surrounding Troma Nagmo are dakinis of the five buddha families: Dorje Khandro (Vajra Dakini, white), Leykyi Khandro (Karma Dakini, green), Sangye Khandro (Buddha Dakini, blue), Rinchen Khandro (Ratna Dakini, yellow), and Pema Khandro (Padma Dakini, red).

Below are the Dharma protectors Gönpo Chakzhipa (four-armed wisdom protector), the five Tseringma sisters, and Karak Khyungtsünma.

In hisPraise of Machik Labdrön, Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö states:

The fundamental intent of the mother Prajñāpāramitā
You realized directly through your own awareness,
And in a hundred ways you opened the great wisdom-mind treasury
Of cutting through demons, the profound union of sūtra and mantra—to you I offer praise!
